Got all the levels converted. Vertex colors aren't present so some levels may not look right at first. Working on the Sky Boxes now. I'm having trouble with the model .obj file and the .fbx is to old for blender. you got any problem, just deactivate the cockpit who don't match to the model . the cockpit was never designed to be added .. different view into the game

I think we're good on vehicles. I think for now one level as a proof of concept is best, and SWBF2 has all that I need on that front Sounds like a plan! I went ahead and threw in the T-16 for fun as it took only a fraction of the time to extract, and will probably continue to ready the other maps for a group release. I'm having trouble with the model .obj file and the .fbx is to old for blender. Run it through Noesis first and save out as FBX...should take care of any problems...

Unfortunately, some of the faces required vertex colors that didn't come out with the extraction and it looks like the windows weren't in the file either. I can rework and fix the model a bit to correct the errors when I have some time

I am looking for the model of Darth Vader from Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike. Does anyone have it? I know that the Emperor model got ripped from it but I'm wondering if the Vader model was ever ripped.

There was that old ign article claiming 125000 which I thought was shocking, but it seems they were doing so very impressive LOD wizardry. I don’t think anything else in game does this. I wonder if this was a kinda tech demo.

I wonder if this was a kinda tech demo. Apparently they improved the rendering system from Rogue Squadron II to Rogue Squadron III. I don't think the models themselves got changed between games but there are more details seen on the LOD models in Rogue Squadron III. If you manage to manipulate the in-game camera to just the right angle certain LOD details will pop-in that never render at other angles in Rogue Squadron II, it's weird. It makes capturing all of the details very difficult. It would be nice if we could just convert the models directly so we wouldn't have to miss out on any details. The best example I can give is the Y-Wing hangar model. The head of the Y-Wing in RSII has less greeble details than the same model in RSIII, but only when viewed from certain angles.

Only the game rendering engines are different along with the use of different shaders. I'd love to get all the Rogue Squadron stuff someday. The classic Star Wars Battlefront II game is ripe for porting that content over. It's a terrain-based engine, it has the scripting capabilities, and the flying is pretty near RS. Yet another project on my back burner

Ripping is tricky as the camera FOV plays a part in the Blender import. No model is 100% perfect but most of them are extremely close. Had to replace a couple of parts and incomplete meshes here and there.
