I'm having some trouble with the VT-49 Decimator, for some strange reason the lights don't work as they should on the Model with all the upgrades, but with the clean model, everything is fine. Anyone know why is that? Any way to fix it? I only found the one version on Warhammers repository...but let me ask...are you using the version where the normals look Green in Blender? The one thing with this is if you don't change the Normal to Non-Color, that will cause this.. and will cause the lighting to get absorbed as you can see in your preview...also you need to ramp up your lights as a low setting just won't illuminate this... Also in the model I found there is a problem with the mirroring in Blender...it's not the normals...but with the lights at a low setting parts of the left side go black while the right is fine...not sure what's causing this issue and if you got yours from the 3gig repository... I'm not downloading it, just to check one model...

Would Star Wars Galaxies happen to have a model of the Tie Avenger by any chance?
I can describe it as a hybrid of Vader's Tie Advanced and the Tie Interceptor.

In fact no games outside of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series have the TIE Avenger. There are a few game mods and fan made models of it though.

Yep, thats the one I was looking at... Is there a way to fix it? Did you check my original post? How did you apply the Normal Map? That is one of the main things that will cause your problem... Make sure it is set to Non-Color... also ramp up the lighting if using sun set to 2 + for irradiance. If you use area/spot or point lamps...set power way up, watching in lookdev will give you instant feedback as to how much to ramp them up...Ok... I went in and diagnosed this a bit more...there are many things that need to be fixed... There is duplicate geometry over the hull and other areas... probably for damage etc...find it and delete it ( click on hull, Hide it if there is another under it...delete the one you hid...) The non-ability to show light is the normal maps... with the (Green) normals in Blender it needs to be used in this way for best results... There is only a sun lamp in the scene set to 3.0... Make sure to set the normal to RBG and then follow nodes above...when you get to the windows ...there are 3 levels..one is set to for... and aes environ (delete it) and 3rd layer. Holler if you need more help...

Warhammer_81 , whats your process for converting models? an keeping the textures workin with em, i have a bunch of stuff extracted but i need to convert the .msh to obj while keeping the textures workin. i tried Ultimate unwrap 3d an i dont know how to get it to import .msh an export,
UPDATE: so got ultimate unwrap to work but to export or save i have to pay 60 bucks i got 3d object converter to work but it removes every 5th polygon unless i pay 50 bucks ive tried blender addons for 2.79 an they just throw error codes for the SWG .msh files

Easy way is to select an area, Hide it, if there is still a face showing then the one you hid is duplicated... now you can either leave it hidden from view and camera or just delete the one you hid ... Note: make sure that the one you hid was not a better version or contains more information than the one underneath, for hull damage it is usually very obvious, but for something that uses shaders to mimic damage using transparency not so much...but in this case I was able to just delete the one hidden and all was good..

If you go paid I will tell you that 3D Object Converter leaves blue vertex coloring on all the models, which is annoying. Not sure if that was a property of the original model or something, but it's not ideal. So go with Ultimate Unwrap 3D if you pay for something.

I've never encountered Ultimate Unwrap deforming meshes or destroying UV mapping on models but I suppose it would all depend on the original model. I only really use Ultimate Unwrap to convert models to FBX or something else I can import into 3DSMax. It does have some basic 3D modeling functions and some nice UV mapping functions built in allowing you to fix up models before exporting them.

i have the longprobe but uh it doesnt seem to have colored textures beyone black an white an grey You need to export the files as targa (.tga) and then use the channels menu to see the 'style' options, then you copy the pattern from channels over to the main layers and use either multiply or overlay to apply them to the main texture, the 'colour' you need to adjust yourself to whatever colour you want to add.
