If you could export the one to OBJ or FBX and try to fix the broken geometry if possible I'd really appreciate it. I tried it myself but eventually gave up. Here's the TIE Advanced X5 (Avenger) by Tom Grays: I had to make some alterations to the original model and textures but the mesh and faces are all intact. The download contains the 3DSMax model I used as well as an FBX and OBJ. The original model was made using Lightwave 5.6 and the oldest version of Lightwave I have is version 9 so I had to make some compromises to get the model to work. I did some very quick and dirty UV mapping with some crude textures to replace all the parts that originally used only vertex colors and lighting for shading. I also filled in some small gaps in the mesh where some faces were missing. Overall it needs better textures with fully remapped UVs and removal of all the unseen faces but I didn't want to take the time so I left the mesh as-is. There is no detail in the cockpit interior but the top hatch is made to fully open for what it's worth.

It's partially my fault Slow_Mo. Whenever I merge forum posts from one thread into another it sorts them according to the original post's date. Since the merged posts are older than when you created this thread they get placed above your first post. I'm trying to figure out how to fix this if possible.

Tried to make the TIE Fighter upgrade that is from SW Galaxies, it didn't go as easy as I thought. It is not the same, but I like it. I used the wings of a TIE Striker and did some mirror shenanigans on it. Attachments:

But if I may ask what was your work around for getting materials to work upon export from Lightwave. I've noticed this pretty consistent issue with exporting to OBJ or FBX models from older versions of Lightwave that the materials get all messed up. Basically any Lightwave model from the late 1990s and early 2000s, so basically the models used in the videos on spacebattles.com.

The problem I was having was the original model only had two UV mapped textures while the rest of it had no UV mapping at all and only used vertex color materials and shading. Also the original textures were of odd sizes and not power of 2 which most apps and games hate. To fix all of this I had to create new texture maps that were power of 2 and matched the vertex colors used on the original model. Then I generated all new UV mapping coordinates for the parts and applied the new textures to them.

A few more uglies. Here's the TIE Reaper outfitted as a lightly armed shuttle. This one's pretty similar to the previous boosted TIE, except for now it has ... wait for it ... TWO boosters! I call this next one the Gozanti Gunboat ... because of all the guns.

I assembled them in my renderer (KeyShot 10) which really isn't a modeling program, and last time I used it to export an FBX it made a complete mess, but that was a few revisions ago. I'm willing to give it another try, but I'm away from my PC for a few days.
