Hello GroinKick friends!
I was wondering if some kind Jedi could help me please? I am just trying to extract Lego character models for a personal project, I have successfully extracted all of the .DAT files and am just a bit confused as to the structure which doesn't make immediate logical sense compared to The Complete Saga? I have found a few .gsc files that contained numerous .obj models of some pretty cool stuff, Lego X-Wings, Environment panels etc, but I was more looking for the characters, such as the first order stormtroopers and a few others. Someone kindly suggested that I check for SUPER_CHARACTER files, but I haven't been too successful despite having checked numerous .ghg .gsg files. Could someone please advise me of the file structure of LEGO SWTFA so I can get a better idea of where to find the characters?
Many thanks for reading, I appreciate any advice!

I'm sorry to tell you but all of the character models are compressed inside .RES archives. If you look inside "LEGO Star Wars - The Force Awakens\CHARS\MINIFIGS" folder you'll see all the character models. There are no tools to extract the .res files from TFA game, only some older LEGO games. Once the .res files are extracted there is a tool to convert the .ghg/.gsc file pairs into .obj models.

Hi Warhammer_81 and thank you very much for your kind response. Ahh man, that is a bit of a disappointment, but I appreciate you telling me, it saves me looking for a solution if there isn't one. Very useful to know though. I'm guessing that the only other option would be Ninja Ripper? I'm a little cofused, because I've seen a First Order Stormtrooper Lego figure which looks like it was ripped from the game? Perhaps they used Ninja Ripper? I did notice on the model though that some of the topology was a little messed up on the top of the helmet, so perhaps it was a custom build. Oh well, back to the drawing board, it definitely explains why there is such an active modding community for Star Wars TCS and a non-existent one for TFA. Thanks again, for sharing your knowledge, I do appreciate it.

Are you referring to this model: sketchfab.com/3d-models/lego-first-order-stormtrooper-557232ab8e024deb9a94e2d0d0130844I know Ninja Ripper can be used but I'm not sure that's where this particular model came from. He says his models were done by himself in 3D Studio Max which might explain any oddities with the 3D models. It's also possible to get LEGO models from LDraw but it currently doesn't have all the latest LEGO parts in its database.

I've been ripping bits and pieces from the game using Ninja Ripper. Others are probably aware, but when ripping it will place absolutely everything at the origin, so if you batch import to Blender, Max, whatever it'll all be layered on top of each other. Just fair warning for those who don't know.
