What you'll need: Tutorial video: DownloadText-based version: - Download mviewer (link above) and open the folder where you cloned/extracted it
- Replace the fmt_artstation_mview.py file located in noesis\plugins\python with my version
- Open Noesis.exe
- Drag and drop your .mview file on to the Noesis window
- Click File>Export on the top left corner of the window and select the output format
- Done!
This text-based version of the tutorial describes the simplest way of ripping .mview files. For more information, read the FAQ below. FAQ Q: I want to rip a Marmoset Viewer model, but I don't know how to download the file. A: Assuming that you're using Chrome or Firefox: Press F12. Switch to the Network tab. Reload the page containing the model. If the model doesn't automatically open, click on the button to load it. Under the Network tab, type "mview" into the Filter field. The file you need should be there. Right-click it and select "Open in new tab". This should download the file. Q: The textures look like JPEG but were exported as ( other format). How do I export them as their original format? A: Rather than using Noesis to export textures, use the extract_mview.py script to extract the file. It can be run using "python extract_mview.py yourfile.mview". Q: When I use Noesis, it exports as a single file. How do I export individual submeshes? A: First, run the script above (extract_mview.py) so that it creates a folder with the extracted files. Then, run extract_model.py on that folder. Example: "python extract_model.py folder". This will create a number of .obj files in the folder. Q: I'm trying to export an animated mview file, but all I get when exporting is a static mesh. How do I export bones/animations? A: You can't. At least not with my script. While I may have fixed the original script to load animated files, it only loads the mesh, not the bones. You'll need to rig it yourself. Q: Noesis gives me an error when loading animated .mview files. How do I fix this? A: Most likely, you forgot to replace the fmt_artstation_mview.py bundled with mviewer with mine. If you still get the error after replacing it, post a screenshot of it here. Q: When I try to run python from the Command Prompt, I get the error: 'python' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file A: You don't have Python in your PATH. See here for more information on how to fix this.

even more modified plugin version (extracting more textures). you need nothing but noesis at this point and just throw the plugin in the "plugins/python" folder.

Hi! I'm trying to use the Noesis but I'm unable to download an .mview file from the developer's tools' network tab as mentioned in the notes. It's only downloading as a JPEG. Does anyone know how to download the .mview files from marmoset viewers?!

Does anyone know how to download the .mview files from marmoset viewers?! Set you top pane in the developer tools like this.. click on the Play arrow in the .mview file you want... Name will pop up in the lower panel under Name Right click on it and select open in new tab...you should see the download start...to your downloads folder... Open the downloaded file in Noesis...save as? Note: sometimes the file will just load in the new tab as text...wait a few seconds in that tab right click and select save as ... Rename the save as a .mview file... something like scene01.mview ,,, it will then download as normal and you can then open in Noesis and save...

Hey rscott!! Thanks for replying. I used those steps a few weeks ago and it worked! However, I tried this week, and it just did not work for some reason. Instead of downloading the .mview file, it only downloads the JPEG of the "cover photo" of the viewer. Do you know any way around this? Hi! Nah...He isn't using Ninja but the developers console...which by the way, is not working and from what I can see they have changed things to load directly from cashed data which is immediately deleted from the cache so that open in new tab has nothing to grab anymore... I have run into this problem of bad geometry on a few models where several or even 1 vertex is sent off to a bad location thereby destroying the structure and can even delete all the faces and just leave a point cloud though it displays in the Viewer just fine, import into Noesis will work but the export is always trashed... In these cases I would go the route of using Ripper even though that is a pain ...

yes. it's a file decoding error. i'd have to debug the script and modify it. gonna take a while.
btw... you can still open the mview files in a new tab and "safe as" mview. doesn't break it. you shouldn't need the ripper.

It could be just this file...but it failed very time I tried...in the dev-tools error reported no data in the cache...I also checked and it seems that it is now a direct stream from AS ...used chrome cache viewer and the file is only a URL back to AS OK...just checked and other files are able to open in just fine... just this one seems to fail for me...perhaps size at 35k is timing out... But managed a good clean copy with Chromecache viewer and re-importing into a new Chrome Tab with DT active...gave me the file which I could save into a Mview...( still a direct Link to AS though ) and grabbed it with NR out of the Toolbag Viewer...

It seems complicated at first but he used the Chrome browser along with the Chromecache Viewer to open the .mview file under a new browser tab. He also had the Developer Tools menu open in Chrome (Ctrl+Shift+I). Then he saved the cached .mview file from the Developer Tool console as a new .mview file. He then used the Marmoset Viewer Toolbag to view/import the .mview file and ripped it from within the viewer via Ninja Ripper. I'm not sure you need all these steps to get a model though. I think you can just rip models while viewing them using Ninja Ripper and Pale Moon Browser Portable Version.

And I only had to do this as I did not have the Pale Moon Browser handy... The file would never open in Noesis just crashing, so I imported into Blender 2.9 using the Blender clone version of the 3dmax script...which I didn't get the UV setting correct, and lost the UV's but since it was just a color and not textured per-say...works fine...can always go back and get the correct UV at a later date...if I really wanted the model...with UV's or if it depended on them...

Hey there, I've gone through the tutorial and I encountered an issue right where you have to open the model in Noesis. I get an error stating "This file cannot be previewed". Any possible solutions to that? I checked the FAQ section of the first post here, but I couldn't this particular issue. EDIT: I've solved my problem. Instead of putting the plugin in the actual Noesis directory, I was putting it in "mviewer\noesis\plugins\python". I though I was able to follow instructions, but oh well..

Hi! Thank you so much for all of this. I just have one question: Is it possible to extract the hdri from the Marmoset viewer file? When I try to extract the HDRI, it always come in a .dat file. Can it be exported in hdr or exr? Thank you and god bless you.

It seems that when extracting on the textures, dark places are replaced by light ones, and light ones by dark ones. Is there any way to fix this? If you help me fix this, I will share with you a script with which you can download 3d models from the Sketchfab website. I will attach screenshot of the original model and extracted using Noesis.

Hi new to the forum. Found this topic and I managed to make it work for a model. But for another one I'm getting an error when I open the mview file. The extract script seems to work fine without errors. However, there is much more files in the created folder when compared to the other one but I guess it can be normal since the complexity of this model is much higher.
This is the error I'm getting using the script from dlight. I used both scripts which are here and same result errors just in different lines.

Just an update seems my Noesis was not updated. So I'm runnin v4.472 now. Run the process I get no errors but with both scripts I get a very messed up file. I guess this is similat to what was reported before right?
Nothing to do but wait for a script update I assume.
